Wow...What a dress! This dress is a 999 meter-long scarlet wedding dress displayed in a shopping mall in Dalian,Northeast China's Liaoning Province on February 21,2008. It was hand knitted featuring 2,008 pieces of jade, 29 golden phoenixes and 800 peonies.
It took dressmakers 3months to finish. I think it's just for displaying. I wonder will it be used in the real wedding. I want to know what's their inspiration. Anyway,we can see the great work of hand-made things.

A giant snake head fish caught in Lincoln shire river in UK. It has sharp teeth and looks terrifying.This kind of fish is fearsome predator fish usually found in the freshwater of South East Asia and India.

It is capable to grow more than 5ft and having a large mouthful of sharp teeth. The Environment Agency doesn't have any clue where it's come from.
That it's unlikely to have survived in the water in UK for this kind of fish requires temperatures of 25 to 26 degrees to survive. This one might have been able to survive by eating other species that it's voracious and can out-compete native species.
The message from Environment Agency is that such fish should not be put into native water.

Look at this golden dress decorated with 325 Australian gold coins. This was shown at a promotional event in Tokyo on Feb 14. A security guard has to escort along the model. The golden dress was created by Tanaka Kikinzoku Jewellery K.K to commemorate the Vienna Philharmonic, that it would display for a week at its store in Tokyo's upscale Ginza district.

The dress worths at close to 30million yen($275,000) with golden coins weighing a staggering 8kg. The model is Mayuka, 175-cm in height and 50 kg in weight admitted that the dress was very heavy but she felt that it's very gorgeous. Not only the gold coins Tanaka Kikinzoku offers, but alos a range of goods made from gold are also available. There was 18-karat gold bathub that if crafted for a Japanese hotel hit the headlines twice, once when it was unveiled and a second time when it was stolen from the seaside hot springs.Two men's jackets also using gold coins and together valued at about 127 million yen.

Kuala Lumpur (dpa) - A top Malaysian minister has urged all football players in the central Malacca state team to refrain from having sexual relations before a national-level football match this weekend, a news report said Thursday.

Malacca Chief Minister Mohamad Ali Rustam said based on past matches, players who had sex before their games performed poorly on the field.

He said that at a recent game played against the southern Johor state, Malacca footballers "were allowed to 'mix' with their wives the night before and did not perform well the next day."

Johor beat Malacca 1-0.

"Wives are not boosters when it comes to football," Mohamad Ali was quoted as saying by the New Straits Times daily.

He said the team would surely be able to win the national-level football match on Saturday against the northern Kedah state.

"They just need to stay away from sex and focus on the game."

What a shame..!
After the opening games, with a sprinking of surprise results I am left wondering if England has the mental and physical strength to go all the way.
Forget about the beautiful game out there, on the pitch it's a dogfight. The aim is to get on top of your opponent, mentally and physically, and finish them off. Lately England has not shown these attributes brought about probably by their pampered lifestyle of too much money, parties, private jets,visits to the hairdresser, childish goal celebrations and other distractions.

The sight of English players falling over and pleading for a free kick when they should be up and into it confirms my suspicions.

The exception of course is young Wayne Rooney, hard as nails and still with that never-say-die approach to the game ... what a shame it hasn't rubbed off onto some of his team-mates but long-suffering English fans live in hope.

Energy saving takes on new importance!

The impact of escalating petroleum costs and the rise in energy prices influences the real estate market by increasing the running costs of a building.

The good news is that commercial and institutional buildings can now be built so that the use of fossil fuels to run them is drastically reduced, according to Poul Kristensen, the chief technical adviser of IEN Consultants in Denmark.

"This is being demonstrated in Malaysia where the Malaysian government built a 4,000-square-metre pilot project, the Zero Energy Office Building (ZEO Building)," Mr Kristensen said at the recent FIABCI World Congress held in Bangkok.

The ZEO Building has very low energy consumption as all the energy needed to run it is provided by its own solar electricity system, said Mr Kristensen, who has also done consulting in Malaysia.

"The ZEO building points to the future direction to be taken for sustainable and responsible real estate buildings."

Delegates at FIABCI, an international real-estate group, were told that among the major energy consumers in a home, air-conditioners topped the list at 33%, followed by refrigerators at 18%. water heaters and washing machines at 13% each, and televisions at 8%.

Kodak's digital photography pioneer looks at the past, the present and the future

Did you know that the digital camera was invented over 30 years ago and has been existence longer than the Internet, the notebook computer and even the PC?

The world's first digital camera was invented in December1975 by Steve Sasson of the Eastman Kodak Company, although it was not for commercial purposes.

Sasson worked throughout the 1970s as a contributor at Kodak's research laboratories where he was engaged in a number of early digital imaging projects, one of them being the design and construction of the first digital still camera.

The inventor, who was in Bangkok recently, said that it had taken him a year to create a camera that weighed four kilograms. The device took pictures at 0.01 megapixels and captured the image from the new type of electronic sensor called a CCD (charge-coupled device) and stored it in 49,000 bits of memory.

"The picture from the camera was displayed on a black and white television and was recorded on a cassette tape, and it was read off into a frame store because at that time there was no PC," he said.

As a pioneer in photography, Kodak has been awarded more than 1,000 digital imaging patents and today almost all digital cameras rely on these competences.

Kodak has patents to the first digital camera, and later developed the techniques to capture colour images with CCD array, and this is the technology still used today, Sasson said.

So why was Kodak a late-comer in the digital camera market, having just launched mass market digital cameras in 2001?
